What Qualifies As A Gently Used Bra?

Hey, everybody!

It’s Elaine here from The Bra Recyclers! Today, I want to share some helpful tips on what qualifies as "gently used" bras when preparing to send them in for recycling.

What Makes a Bra Gently Used?

When evaluating your bras for donation, here’s what we look for:

  1. Smooth Cups: The cups should be in good shape, without any significant dents or warping. Smooth cups ensure that the bra will be comfortable and functional for its next wearer.

  2. Functional Straps: The straps need to be intact and adjustable. Make sure they aren't overly stretched out or frayed, as this can affect the bra’s fit and support.

  3. Minimal Stains and Odors: We understand that deodorant stains can happen, but we prefer bras with minimal staining. Also, avoid bras with strong perfume smells. A light wash before sending them in can help with this!

  4. Working Snaps and Hooks: All clasps, snaps, and hooks should be in place and functional. These small parts are crucial for the bra's usability.

  5. Cleanliness: Clean bras are a must. While we don’t expect them to be in perfect condition, they should be free of heavy stains and grime.

An Acceptable Example

I have a bra, as an example in the video above. It’s gently used—smooth cups, functional straps, and working hooks. There's a minor fray on the side, but that’s okay! Small imperfections like this are acceptable and don’t disqualify the bra from being donated.

Ready to Recycle?

Now that you know what qualifies as gently used, go ahead and gather those bras! Your bras make a significant impact, providing necessary support to those in need while also promoting sustainable practices.

Thank you for contributing to The Bra Recyclers! Every bra makes a difference.

Happy recycling!
