Frequently Asked Questions

  • At The Bra Recyclers, our mission is to keep bras and select undergarments out of landfills through the most responsible option available.

For bras, gently used items that are still clean and wearable may be redistributed through nonprofit and community partners. Reuse is often the most sustainable outcome because it extends the life of the item and helps someone who needs it.

For underwear, we only distribute items when they are new and in original packaging with tags attached. Because of hygiene standards, we cannot accept used underwear for distribution.

When items are not suitable for reuse or distribution, we work with textile recyclers and other responsible partners whenever possible.

Our use of the word “recycle” reflects our broader commitment to reuse, textile diversion, and landfill reduction.

  • When we say “new underwear,” we mean items such as panties, boxers, briefs, and similar undergarments that are in their original packaging with tags attached. Because of hygiene standards, these items must be new to be distributed. Bras are handled differently and may be accepted gently used if they are clean and in wearable condition.

  • Items that are not suitable for redistribution may be directed to textile recyclers or other responsible partners for upcycling, material recovery, or more responsible disposal whenever possible. Our goal is always to reduce landfill waste and handle undergarments in the most responsible way available.

Unfortunately, not every item can be recycled or reused, and some items may still end up in the landfill. We are committed to minimizing that outcome whenever possible.

  • Yes! We accept bras and new underwear year-round. There is no cutoff date or seasonal restriction. Anytime you have items ready to recycle, we are ready to receive them.

Make sure to fill out the bra recycling form and follow the steps for recycling.

  • The Bra Recyclers has Ambassador drop-off locations across the United States and Canada. Because locations can change as new Ambassadors join or update their programs, we do not maintain a static state-by-state list on this FAQ page.

The easiest way to find a current location near you is to visit our Drop-Off Locations & Rewards map and search by city, state, or ZIP code. If there is not a drop-off location near you, you can still recycle your bras by completing our online recycling form and mailing your items directly to The Bra Recyclers.

Some Ambassador locations may also offer recycling rewards, so be sure to check the location details before you visit.

Every bra recycled is part of a larger movement to reduce textile waste and create meaningful community impact.

  • Yes. Bras are commonly discarded because many people do not know what else to do with them once they no longer fit or feel comfortable. By recycling your bras instead of throwing them away, you help extend the life of wearable items and reduce the amount of textile waste going to landfills.

At The Bra Recyclers, we make textile recycling simple, meaningful, and impactful by connecting people, retailers, and businesses to a more responsible way to manage bras and new undergarments.

  • The Undie Chest is our 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm, founded in 2021. We address hygiene poverty by collecting and distributing new underwear to individuals, families, and students who need it most. Underwear is an essential item, not a luxury, and The Undie Chest exists to make sure no one goes without. You can learn more and make a financial donation at UndieChest.org.

  • Hygiene poverty means not being able to afford basic hygiene essentials, including clean underwear. For many individuals and families, a fresh pair of underwear is simply out of reach. The Undie Chest works to close that gap by distributing new undergarments through vetted nonprofit and community partners across the greater Phoenix area and beyond.

  • We are a for-profit, social impact business. The model could be structured as a nonprofit, needing grant money and outside sources to fund the organization. But we are tapping into the entrepreneurial spirit, offering a fee-based service that allows us to generate revenue while serving the community recycling needs. We’re a business with a greater cause. Our mission is to serve you, the environment and our partners.

We do have a nonprofit arm of the company called The Undie Chest. All of our philanthropic work is managed through our nonprofit. We support over 140 nonprofit organizations worldwide and Title 1 schools in the Phoenix area.
