We recently had the pleasure of attending a Bra Recycling Launch Party to celebrate our newest partnership in New Mexico with WESST.

This event brought together individuals from both the local community and online platforms to share their support for our initiative. We were delighted to participate in this event which saw up to 150 bras donated to the Barrett Foundation!

As the CEO of The Bra Recyclers, I am honored to share the incredible impact our organization has had in supporting women and girls in need while promoting social and environmental responsibility. 

I met with Yini from WESST - the Women Business Center, which provides entrepreneurs with the resources, skills, technical assistance, and capital to succeed. Hannah also joined us from the Barrett House Foundation, a shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness in Albuquerque; we explored the transformative power of our partnership and the positive changes we are making together.

Where it Begins

The journey of a donated bra begins when individuals like you bring them to us from all corners of the country. These bras are then carefully sorted by an amazing local organization called Epi Hab, which provides employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. 

Through this partnership, we ensure that each bra is assessed for quality and condition, allowing us to separate the new and like-new items with tags for donation to nonprofits like the Barrett House Foundation.

We cannot overstate the impact of these donations.

At the Barrett House Foundation, where up to 40 women and children find refuge each night, bras and underwear are among the most requested items. Access to a properly fitting bra empowers these women to feel good about themselves as they navigate job interviews, meet potential landlords, and take steps toward self-sufficiency. 

Your simple act of recycling a bra can make a significant difference in someone's life.

Our Impact

Our impact extends beyond local shelters. We also sort bras for textile recycling. 

While we may need to destroy some bras due to their intricate construction, we partner with responsible textile recyclers who strive to minimize waste and maximize the reuse of materials—excess bras donated to countries with high demand for affordable undergarments. 

By redirecting these items, we help combat practices like breast ironing in African villages, where the provision of bras can protect girls from harmful cultural practices.

Our global presence has donated over 4 million bras to date. 

With the support of dedicated ambassadors and recyclers, we have impacted social and environmental justice. We work with over 130 nonprofits and have expanded our reach to Title One schools through our nonprofit, The Undie Chest.

In collaboration with organizations like the Barrett House Foundation and the Women's Economic Self-Sufficiency Team (WESST), we are transforming lives, empowering women, and creating a more equitable and sustainable world.

We want to thank WESST for hosting the impactful launch party that brought together communities across New Mexico. 

It was through their support and dedication that we had the opportunity to connect with the Barrett House Foundation and donate 150 bras to families in need. This event exemplified the power of unity and collaboration in creating positive change. 

We are honored to be part of a movement that promotes recycling and uplifts families and individuals facing challenging circumstances by providing them with essential undergarments.
