October is Bra Recycling Month: How We’re Combining Forces For A Powerful Cause

Every October, our team at The Bra Recyclers hosts our annual event, Bra Recycling Month.

Our mission is to extend the reach of organizations worldwide and strengthen their impact in providing vulnerable women and girls with the bras and prostheses they need to live safe and comfortable lives.

As the CEO and Founder of The Bra Recyclers, I launched Bra Recycling Month to provide an opportunity for people to support domestic violence, human trafficking, and breast cancer survivors meaningfully, besides making monetary donations.

Domestic Violence Awareness

Domestic violence is a persistent and disheartening reality that needs urgent attention. With countless individuals enduring physical, emotional, and psychological abuse within the sanctuary of their own homes, domestic violence remains a grave societal issue.

Heightening awareness about this prevalent problem is crucial to provide survivors with support and resources while fostering empathy and understanding within communities

By shedding light on domestic violence, we can debunk harmful myths surrounding the issue and empower survivors to break free from the cycle of abuse.

Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast cancer awareness month

Breast cancer awareness is a crucial movement that strives to educate and empower individuals about the risks, prevention, and early detection of breast cancer.

To reduce the number of lives lost to this disease, campaigns and initiatives during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and throughout the year bring attention to the importance of regular screenings, self-examinations, and understanding family history

These efforts also highlight the need for funding research to find a cure and support those fighting breast cancer.

By spreading awareness and promoting understanding, breast cancer awareness provides hope and support to those affected while working towards a future free from the impact of this devastating disease.

October is Bra Recycling Month

Throughout October, The Bra Recyclers wants to inspire and encourage communities around the United States and the world to take action to help improve the lives of victims and survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and breast cancer by recycling their preloved bras and prostheses.

For example: if a cancer survivor doesn't have insurance, getting the necessary post-surgical supplies like a mastectomy bra or prosthesis is not an option. Recycling your new and preloved bras gives them to those who need them most.

We aim to collect 20,000 bras throughout October, and we’d love your support.

You can recycle unwanted bras by filling out our online bra recycling form, mailing them directly to us, or dropping them off at one of our drop-off locations

Recycling supports not only individuals and families but also the environment by extending the life of preloved bras and reducing the amount of clothing going into landfills.
